Join a founding DELOCA neighbourhood

We are approaching the distribution of DELOCA and the pre-sales of Hearths to households by forming small, place-based communities in which low-carbon energy participation, local commerce and neighbourhood life can synergise with one another. If you are a Sydneysider you can join DELOCA before deciding whether to pre-book a Hearth.

City of Sydney pilot 2026–27

The first DELOCA and Hearth pilot is planned for the City of Sydney in 2026–27.

We intend to place up to twenty Hearths across four founding neighbourhood clusters, with up to five participating households in each. This limited scale allows us to support households carefully, understand everyday use and build meaningful relationships between members, local businesses and research partners.

Four founding neighbourhoods

The initial neighbourhood focus is:

  • Redfern
  • Surry Hills
  • Darling Square
  • Green Square

Final cohorts will be informed by household interest, postcode, geographic proximity, access to suitable shared spaces, local partner participation and the requirements of the pilot.

If a neighbourhood cohort is full or not yet active, households can join the waitlist and help demonstrate demand for a future cohort.

DELOCA members and Hearth Socials

You do not need to own a Hearth to become a DELOCA member.

By signing up to DELOCA as a member you will be able to experience the platform, receive launch updates and take part in selected community activities. Planned experiences include DELOCA Radio, access to local offers and periodic Hearth Socials.

Hearth Socials will bring participating households together through facilitated park gatherings, picnics and shared activities. These events are intended to make neighbourhood connection more natural while introducing members to local produce, products and experiences.

For local growers, makers and businesses

DELOCA is seeking relationships with neighbourhood businesses and local and regional growers, makers and experience providers.

Partners may contribute products, offers or activities that connect low-carbon energy participation with local life. We are particularly interested in distinctive, responsibly produced offerings that can be meaningfully introduced to City of Sydney households.
